Special price! Lortone 3A tumbler with 1 pound of mixed stainless steel shot $99
|
One of the best tumblers, and best PMC tools, around!
The Lortone 3A is a top of the line tumbler that
accomplishes the job of the big guys at a reasonable
price for the home jeweler. A two pound selection of
mixed shot, stainless steel of course, is the recommended
amount for the 4" rubber barrel. Shot in, jewelry in (we
even tumble fired PMC with glass), cover with water up to
about 2/3 full, then just a drop of a good detergent like
Dawn. This tumbler is very quiet too!
A note about burnishing compounds: I've used Rio Grande's Supersheen before, and it
does a good job, but I'm quite content to use Dawn. It seems to do all I need it to and at a
lesser cost.

Another note about shot: all shot is not created equal. Sure, you can purchase carbon
steel shot at a fraction of the price of stainless steel, but (and here speaks the voice of
experience!) it also has to be dried thoroughly and stored properly or it will rust! And then
pit your jewelry! So I tossed all that years ago and bought some stainless, still using it with
no problems.
