My roots in Christian symbolism are strong; as I developed a language
using precious metal clay as my medium, inventive and original pendants
shapes began to develop.  A series of Jerusalem crosses enhanced by
metal clay paper, as well as crosses made of extruded and woven or
twined metal clay, evoke textures that invite handling and a thoughtful
perusal of the meanings behind their symbolism.

I design jewelry influenced by natural textures to create one-of-a-kind
necklaces, earrings, and pendants.  I experimented with many forms of
craft during my lifetime.  Growing up on a farm in rural Virginia taught me
many handwork skills as well as a family-instilled love of learning.  I took
a BFA in design in 1981, and taught middle school art in Pulaski County,
Virginia for many years, introducing many students to the pleasures of
fusing glass.  I have been working with PMC since 2000, adding in fused
and other forms of glass since then.    I chose as a motto of my work this
verse:

…make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own
business and work with your hands…  1 Thessalonians 4:11
